Candidates must have a good academic background and meet the essential qualifications prescribed in the BSUSC notification.

Educational Qualification

Essential Qualification

A candidate should have:

  • Minimum 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent grade in the relevant subject.
  • 5% relaxation in Master’s marks is available for:
    • SC / ST / BC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of Bihar
    • Physically challenged persons of Bihar

So, reserved category / PwBD candidates of Bihar can apply with 50% marks in Master’s degree.

In addition, the candidate must have either:

  1. Qualified UGC/CSIR NET for Assistant Professor, or
  2. Ph.D. degree as per UGC Regulations, with NET exemption as applicable, or
  3. For candidates registered in Ph.D. before UGC 2009 rules, exemption from NET may be available if the following conditions are fulfilled:
    • Ph.D. awarded in regular mode
    • Thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners
    • Open viva conducted
    • Two research papers published from Ph.D. work, including at least one in a refereed journal
    • At least two papers presented in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agency

Candidates with a Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 in QS / THE / ARWU world rankings may also be eligible as per the notification.

Merit List Preparation

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in academic qualifications + interview.

If two candidates get the same total marks, then the tie will be resolved in this order:

  1. Candidate with higher academic qualification marks will be placed higher.
